Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

AGNEW — A routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 101 in Agnew resulted in the arrest of two people, including one on several drug charges, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Simone R. Nelson, 50, of Forks was booked into Clallam County jail early Tuesday morning for investigation of four counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Christopher J. Dorrell, 39, of Port Angeles was arrested for investigation of driving with no valid operator’s license. He was not listed on the Clallam County jail roster on Wednesday.

The incident began at 9:46 p.m. Monday when a Clallam County sheriff’s deputy spotted a black SUV that was speeding and lacking a rear license plate pass the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and North Barr Road, the release stated.

The vehicle was stopped in the 1500 block of Atterberry Road, where a deputy spotted a glass pipe commonly used for smoking controlled substances in open view in a cup holder within arm’s reach of Nelson, who was the passenger but also the vehicle’s owner, according to the release.

After Nelson exited the vehicle, deputies said they searched a black bag she was carrying and discovered a digital scale, along with more than 300 pills suspected to be fentanyl divided into various packages, 6.98 grams of what was suspected to be cocaine, 1.55 grams of what was suspected to be heroin, 1.8 grams of what was suspected to be methamphetamine and three other types of unidentified pills.
