PORT ANGELES — A threatening message scribbled on a Walmart restroom stall prompted a Clallam County Sheriff’s Office investigation that continued Thursday.
The words “There is a bomb inside the building” were found written Wednesday on a stall inside the men’s restroom at the Port Angeles Walmart at 3411 E. Kolonels Way, Chief Criminal Deputy Brian King said.
No bomb was found inside the store.
Walmart staff reported the message, which had been written in a black marker, at about 3:36 p.m.
Other words had been written inside the threatening message, King said.
“We got with the manager of the store and had all the mangers of all the various departments conduct a search of their area,” King said.
“The store was not evacuated. Given the context of the other writing around where ‘There is a bomb inside the building’ was written, it looks like it was graffiti in nature.”
Deputies on Thursday were reviewing surveillance footage of the area outside the restrooms in an effort to identify a possible suspect.
The restrooms are checked by staff every few hours, King said.
“How in-depth they conduct those checks appears to be unclear to us, creating the need for us to look at footage throughout the course of the day,” King said.
