Third arrest made in confrontation over stolen SUV

PORT ANGELES — The third and final suspect in an armed confrontation over a stolen SUV on June 2 was arrested without further incident Friday, Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Pieper said.

Mason H. Rood-Durham, 20, was booked into the Clallam County jail for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle. He was arrested at a residence near Port Angeles, Pieper said.

Rood-Durham was allegedly traveling in a stolen 2001 Tahoe with Taylor O. Dickinson and Kayla L. Wishart when Dickinson rammed a Dodge Durango east of Port Angeles on the morning of June 2.

Dickinson, 25, and Wishart, 19, allegedly pointed guns at two occupants inside the Durango, who were described as friends of the owner of the Tahoe.

Dickinson, Wishart and Rood-Durham fled on foot from a U.S. Highway 101 gas station into the Gales Addition, Pieper said.

Dickinson and Wishart were arrested by deputies shortly after fleeing. Rood-Durham eluded deputies and had remained a person of interest in the case.

Rood-Durham is expected to make his first court appearance today .

Dickinson was charged Wednesday with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a stolen firearm, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Wishart was charged Wednesday with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a stolen firearm, second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission, possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin, court papers said.

Dickinson and Wishart are being held on $50,000 bail.

Rood-Durham’s conditions of release have not been set.
