PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has been arrested on investigation of multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and first-degree possession of a firearm, according to law enforcement agencies.
Justin W. Defrang, 44, was arrested on a warrant on March 12 after the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force located him at a residence in the 200 block of South Francis Street, the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET) stated in a press release.
Defrang remained in the Clallam County Jail on Friday with no bail amount set. He was under the supervision of the state Department of Corrections for a robbery conviction and failed to comply with requirements, which led to the arrest warrant, OPNET said.
After Defrang was taken into custody, the Department of Corrections searched the residence and seized about 339.22 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 527.26 grams of suspected fentanyl, 120.85 grams of suspected cocaine, 23.02 grams of suspected heroin and a variety of pills such as suspected fentanyl and Xanax, OPNET said.
Three firearms also were recovered, OPNET said. As a convicted felon, Defrang is prohibited from possessing firearms, OPNET said.
The agency confirmed two of the firearms previously had been reported stolen. The origin of the third firearm remained under investigation, OPNET said.
OPNET is a multi-agency team dedicated to the enforcement of narcotics laws and violent crime in Clallam and Jefferson counties. Participating agencies include the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Port Angeles Police Department, Sequim Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Port Townsend Police Department.
