PORT ANGELES — A man who was shot twice through his right thigh Friday west of Port Angeles was in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center on Sunday, according to the hospital.
No arrests have been made in the shooting at the Elwha River bridge parking area on state Highway 112, and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t yet have any suspects, said Sgt. Randy Pieper on Sunday.
The shooter fired “a lot” of shots at Arthur Marks, whose age and hometown weren’t available Sunday, shattering his femur and hitting his friend’s car, Pieper said.
The victim and the witness who was with him were uncooperative with deputies, making it difficult to develop leads on the case, Pieper said.
Marks was shot twice in the leg and deputies found bullet holes in the car’s rear bumper and right passenger wheel.
Gun recovered
At the scene, deputies recovered a .38 special revolver and several 9mm casings. All the rounds in the revolver were expended and deputies do not know who the gun belongs to, he said.
“We don’t know who shot what at who,” he said.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Elwha River Road at 6:40 p.m. Friday.
The victim reported seeing a white SUV leaving the area after the shooting, according to authorities. Pieper said it doesn’t look like a drive-by.
Motive unknown
At this point deputies do not know the shooter’s motive or if Marks knows the shooter, Pieper said.
Marks was treated near the scene of the shooting before being transported to Olympic Medical Center.
He was then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The case is still under investigation.
