PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man who was stopped for a seat belt violation was found to be in possession of more than $11,000 worth of narcotics, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.
Arik Mason, 29, was booked for investigation of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, making false statements to law enforcement and an outstanding warrant, Sheriff’s Sgt. Amy Bundy said.
Mason provided a false name to law enforcement after he was stopped for a seat belt violation at about 8:19 p.m. Thursday, Bundy said.
He was discovered to be using an alias, Bundy said.
Mason was found to be in possession of 96.9 grams of heroin, 2.8 grams of cocaine, 15.4 grams of methamphetamine and $1,367 in cash, Bundy said.
Deputies also found scales, drug paraphernalia and “drug distribution supplies” in the car Mason was driving, Bundy said.
The vehicle was seized because it was suspected as being used to distribute controlled substances, Bundy said.
Mason was being held in the Clallam County jail Saturday without bond.
He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Monday.
