SEQUIM — A Sequim woman has been arrested for investigation of first-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault — domestic violence, eluding a police vehicle and resisting arrest.
Melody Sue White, 48, remained in the Clallam County jail on Saturday with no bail set after she was arrested Friday.
Deputies were dispatched to a reported disturbance at Gupster Road and My Way at 11:56 p.m. Thursday, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
The initial report was that a man and woman were yelling at each other and that one was chasing the other with a car and telling the person to get in.
Deputies arrived at about 12:08 a.m. Friday and talked with Mark White and a juvenile male.
Deputies were told the two had heard banging on the door and that when the juvenile checked to see who was at the door, it was forced open and Melody White came in.
Deputies said she threw the juvenile against the wall and slapped and punched him in the face and the head. She is not related to the juvenile, deputies said.
Deputies said that the juvenile pushed her away and that she then said: “You’re not Mark.”
It is not known if the two Whites are related; authorities were not available Saturday.
Mark White pulled her off the youth, deputies said, and held her down so the juvenile could escape, deputies said.
She punched him in the face as he let her up and fled in a black 1997 Lexus, deputies said.
They said that they located the car at her residence but could not find her.
At about 8:42 p.m. Friday, Sequim police officers located her in the Lexus near Walmart in Sequim, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Officers and deputies stopped her in the 1100 block of West Spruce Court and she refused to get out or unlock her car door, the Sheriff’s Office said.
At about 8:53 p.m., she took off in the car, running over spike strips that Sequim officers had placed before her front tires and popping the front driver’s side tire, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities said that Melody White led them on a a pursuit through Sequim for about 1.2 miles, reaching West Alder Street, where she slowed.
Officers and deputies pinned in the car so she could not escape.
She took a sharp turn, slamming into the front of a deputy’s vehicle then backed up and turned around, the Sheriff’s Office said.
She remained uncooperative, the Sheriff’s Office said, but was taken into custody without further incident.
