Sequim woman arrested after stolen mail found in car

SEQUIM — A Sequim woman was arrested for investigation of stolen property and mail theft after deputies found 102 letters in a vehicle that had been reported as suspicious, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.

Brenda A. Fisher, 39, was arrested on an outstanding theft warrant and then booked Tuesday into the Clallam County jail for investigation of second-degree possession of stolen property and “mail theft from three or more addresses — 10 or more items of mail,” according to a press release.

Under Washington state law, the latter is a class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, three Clallam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a report of a black sedan with an unknown license plate driving slowly westbound on Olson Road.

They arrived to a driver pointing a flashlight out the vehicle’s window.

After stopping the vehicle on Hooker Road, deputies noticed several pieces of mail inside the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies searched her car and found 102 letters, which included checks and debit/credit cards, intended for multiple people and locations in Sequim, they said, adding that they also found suspected heroin and meth.

The stolen mail is being processed by deputies and will be returned to the post office for delivery, deputies said.
