PORT ANGELES — A Sequim man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team announced.
Byron Curtis Washburn, 33, was sentenced Wednesday in Clallam County Superior Court.
Two counts of possession of heroin were dismissed in exchange for Washburn’s guilty plea, court papers said.
OPNET investigators served a search warrant at Washburn’s residence in the 700 block of River Road last November and discovered two firearms, said Detective Sgt. John Keegan of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Washburn was convicted of residential burglary and attempted residential burglary in April 2016, making him a convicted felon, court papers said.
Washburn will be under state supervision for 18 months after his release from prison, Keegan said.
He was ordered to pay $800 in fines to offset court and law enforcement expenses.
Washburn was being held Sunday at the Washington Corrections Center near Shelton.
