Sequim man charged with child molestation

PORT ANGELES — Brian Russell Dilley was charged Thursday with the first-degree child molestation of a 4-year-old girl.

Dilley, 37, of Sequim, will be arraigned on the Class A felony next Friday in Clallam County Superior Court.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office alleged that Dilley molested the girl at his Sequim residence sometime between July 2016 and May 2017.

The girl disclosed the allegation to Renton police Aug. 23, court papers said.

Dilley was arrested Aug. 31 after a Clallam County Sheriff’s Office investigation.

He is being held in the Clallam County jail on $50,000 bail.

Deputies used a search warrant to obtain photographs of a virtual reality gaming head set and a red couch in Dilley’s apartment that the child described to law enforcement, according to the probable cause statement.

The sexual abuse was originally reported by the girl’s mother in June 2017, but the child would not discuss the allegation in a subsequent interview with a child forensic interviewer.

Clallam County Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly signed a sexual assault protection order prohibiting Dilley from having any contact with the girl.

First-degree child molestation is punishable by a maximum of life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
