SEQUIM — A Sequim couple is facing drug- and firearms-related charges after Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team members found heroin and weapons in the couple’s residence last month, according to a press release.
Kirsten Cabrini Cook, 27, was arrested Nov. 2 on a state Department of Corrections warrant and charged Nov. 6 with possessing 9 grams of heroin.
Byron Curtis Washburn, 33, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Clallam County Jail for investigation of two counts of possession of heroin and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.
OPNET members helped DOC with arresting Cook on Nov. 2 at her residence on the 700 block of River Road in Sequim. Washburn was present at the time, but was not detained, according to OPNET. He was allowed to leave the scene.
OPNET members obtained a search warrant for the residence and discovered about 9 grams of heroin, a black and silver colored AR-15 rifle with scope and a Taurus .22 caliber handgun, according to the press release.
The firearms were found to belong to Washburn, who is not allowed to own firearms because he was convicted of two counts of residential burglary and a single count of attempted residential burglary last year, according to the press release.
Port Angeles Police Department officers arrested Washburn on Wednesday after responding to a report of a man who was unconscious in a car parked at the 300 block of South Laurel Street.
Inside the car they say they found about 8.6 grams of heroin, according to the press release.
Cook remained in jail Thursday held on $15,000 bail.
