Reported shooting under investiagation

Police seek more details from public

PORT ANGELES — City police on Tuesday were investigating a reported shooting near Jesse Webster Park.

No injuries were reported and no arrests had been made in connection with the Monday morning incident on East Second Street.

Officers learned there had been an argument between the occupants of a black car and a white car and a shot had reportedly been fired, police said.

The people involved in the altercation had left the scene before officers arrived.

“There was a verbal altercation,” Port Angeles Police Detective Trevor Dropp said Tuesday.

“One of the witnesses ended up hearing what they believed to be shot, a single shot.”

No description of the suspect or suspect vehicles was available.

“We’re trying to piece together what exactly happened,” Dropp said in a telephone interview.

“We’re slowly getting tips.

“There’s rumors, but nothing concrete yet,” he added.

The incident was reported at 9:58 a.m. Monday on the 700 block of East Second Street between Francis and Eunice streets.

A bullet casing was found in the area but no round or weapon was discovered, Dropp said.

Police canvassed the area in an attempt to find video surveillance of the incident or suspect vehicles.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Dropp at 360-417-4945.
