PORT ANGELES — Tucker Scott Kahler was charged Tuesday with allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Kahler, 26, was charged in Clallam County Superior Court with single counts of second-degree rape with forcible compulsion and third-degree rape of a child for an alleged attack on a child who was staying with her grandmother in Carlsborg.

Kahler is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday.

He remained in the Clallam County jail on $500,000 bail on Tuesday.

Port Angeles police alleged that Kahler met the girl at the Sequim Walmart on July 21 and raped her that evening on Ediz Hook.

Kahler allegedly provided the girl with two alcoholic beverages and raped her in his station wagon, Detective David Arand said in the affidavit for probable cause.

The alleged crimes were reported by the girl’s grandmother Aug. 31.

Kahler was arrested Sept. 26 after a police investigation.

A State Patrol crime lab will conduct forensic tests on material recovered from the vehicle Kahler was driving, Arand said in court papers.

DNA samples were collected from Kahler and the alleged victim, Arand said.

Matthew Roberson, Clallam County deputy prosecuting attorney, filed the charges against Kahler in a brief court appearance Tuesday.

Kahler is charged in a separate case for failing to register as a sex offender, Roberson told Superior Court Judge Brent Basden.

Kahler has prior convictions of first-degree child molestation, violation of a restraining order and failure to register as a sex offender, Arand said.
