PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man charged with raping an unconscious woman at a party last August has a new trial date.
Seth Lee Owens’ second-degree rape trial was moved Friday from May 15 to May 30.
The four-day trial was reset because of attorney and witness availability, court papers said.
A 3.5 hearing to determine whether certain statements will be admissible at trial is scheduled for May 23. A status hearing is set for May 12.
Port Angeles police said Owens, 23, raped an intoxicated woman at a house party.
Witnesses told police that Owens carried a sleeping woman from a living room couch to a bedroom where he raped her.
A party-goer who purportedly stopped the alleged rape took a photograph of Owens on top of the woman, police said in the affidavit for probable cause.
Owens pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.
He is being held in the Clallam County jail on $100,000 bail.
