PORT ANGELES — A Sequim man charged with raping four girls is now scheduled to go to trial next May.
Nathan A. Chavez, 31, is charged with eight counts of child rape and one count of child molestation for alleged crimes against children between the ages of 11 and 16.
He was arrested last February after a Clallam County Sheriff’s Office investigation.
Previous trial date
Previous trial dates of April 10, July 12 and Oct. 23 were scratched because of the ongoing investigation, Clallam County Superior Court papers said.
A two- to three-week trial for Chavez was rescheduled Sept. 28 for May 14.
A status hearing will be held Feb. 15.
Chavez pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree child rape, two counts of second-degree child rape, five counts of third-degree child rape and one count of third-degree child molestation.
He posted a $250,000 bail bond July 3.
Chavez is under orders to have no contact with the alleged victims.
Investigators said Chavez lived with two of the children when the crimes occurred.
Chavez allegedly provided alcohol to the other victims at parties, drove them to remote locations and raped them inside of his truck, according to the affidavit for probable cause.
