Pot shop robbed in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Police are seeking four people who robbed Floyd’s Cannabis of money and product at apparent gunpoint on Friday night.

The robbers also physically assaulted the closing manager at the store on East First Street.

Marlin Guillen, regional manager of Floyd’s Cannabis, which operates pot stores throughout Washington state, said that at about 11:33 p.m., armed and masked robbers “forced everyone on the ground … threw the (closing) manager on ground and hit him with a gun.”

The manager is bruised but recovering, she said.

Guillen said that two bud tenders and the manager were in the store; no customers were present. The store closes at 11:45 p.m.

She said that the robbers took money from the top safe, used to make change, and hit the manager when he could not open the bottom safe where daily receipts are deposited in the cash-only business.

Store employees were conducting an inventory Saturday to see how much product had been taken, she said; the plan was to reopen either sometime Saturday or today.

Port Angeles police are in the very early stages of investigating the robbery, which appeared to be with firearms, said Detective Sgt. Kori Malone on Saturday afternoon.

She said police are collecting surveillance video and following leads.

Anyone with information is asked to call Malone at 360-417-4957 or 360-461-5701, or the non-emergency dispatch number at 360-452-4545.
