PORT TOWNSEND — A man remained in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Saturday after a knife attack late Wednesday evening, and two people were being sought by police in connection with the crime.
An unidentified Port Townsend resident was stabbed multiple times in his abdomen and arms in the 200 block on Adams Street, according to Port Townsend police.
Police declined to identify the victim, citing his protection and the ongoing investigation.
The victim was in surgery Thursday and will face several more operations. He has not yet been interviewed by law enforcement.
Keppie Keplinger, Port Townsend Police Department spokeswoman, said the attack is being investigated as attempted murder.
Keplinger said witnesses described the attacker as a balding man with medium-length blond or light-brown wavy hair with a stubbly beard.
He was said to be about 6-feet tall with a medium build.
Witnesses told police that a male and a female were seen entering a red van, possibly a Ford, parked at the Bishop Hotel parking lot on Washington Street immediately after the stabbing.
The female was seen driving the vehicle away from the scene, according to the police.
“Based on this information, those two individuals are considered suspects,” Keplinger said.
Port Townsend police continue to request help from the community to assist in the investigation.
Detective Patrick Fudally, who is in charge of the investigation, asked that anyone with information contact the Jefferson County Dispatch Center at 360-344-9779.
Keplinger said this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the general public.
“This an active ongoing investigation,” Keplinger said. “More information will be released as it becomes available.”
