PORT ANGELES — A Port Townsend man faces numerous charges after a “crime spree” that started May 12, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Nathan Tanuvasa Nolan, 27, was in the Clallam County jail on $62,500 bail on Saturday, charged with second degree theft, second degree malicious mischief and obstructing a law enforcement officer after his Thursday arrest.
He is also held for investigation of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, being a prisoner in possession of drugs, second degree malicious mischief, second degree burglary and third degree theft.
It started on May 12 at the Walmart in Port Angeles when deputies were sent to a theft in progress. When they arrived, they found that Nolan had two full shopping carts of merchandise — totalling $2,018.56 in value — and was attempting to leave the store without paying, according to court records.
He was arrested without incident, but refused to identify himself.
While Nolan was on his way to the Clallam County jail, he kicked the door panel of the patrol car, cracking the panel and causing $495 in damages, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Nolan was released from jail May 14 after posting bond.
On Wednesday at about 6:50 a.m., Port Angeles Police Officers investigated a burglary alarm at Harbor Freight, 1940 E. First St.
As officers investigated, they determined Nolan was the one who triggered the alarm, according to a news release.
At about 7:15 a.m. Thursday, a deputy investigated a vehicle theft in the Taylor Cutoff Road area west of Sequim. Deputies were told Nolan had gone to a home where a 1979 Ford Bronco was for sale and asked to take the vehicle for a test drive.
He never returned, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found the Bronco at the Longhouse Market & Deli in Blyn and contacted Nolan in the store.
While Nolan was being booked into the Clallam County jail, deputies found a small bag of methamphetamine on Nolan.
