PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend man has been arrested for investigation of third-degree theft and second-degree burglary after he was found inside Aldrich’s Market on Thanksgiving.
Lucas R. Jacoby, 31, was found hiding in one of the building’s basement storage lockers after police officers investigated a commercial burglary alarm ringing at 5 p.m.
Nothing had been taken.
“Everything is fine,” Robin Rogers, owner of the market at 940 Lawrence St., said Friday.
Keppie Keplinger, Port Townsend Police Department spokesperson, said officers could see the man inside the store when they arrived, but they could not get into the building.
The alarm company was unable to reach the building key holder and police contacted East Jefferson Fire Rescue for assistance in accessing the building.
Once inside, they searched the building and found Jacoby, she said.
Jacoby remained in the Jefferson County Jail on Saturday with no bail set.
Third-degree theft is a gross misdemeanor and second-degree burglary is a Class B felony.
”Jacoby was an employee of the market,” Keplinger said, adding that he had a key and opened the market from time to time.
“He no longer has a key,” she said.
