PORT ANGELES — A Port Orchard woman was arrested for investigation of stolen property and drug charges after she was caught on a security camera robbing a Sequim business on Monday.
Carmen M. Harris, 39, Port Orchard was arrested Wednesday and later released by the court for investigation of one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of third-degree possession of stolen property.
Clallam County deputies received a report Monday of theft from a Sequim business, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. A security camera captured a woman in a red Dodge pickup truck cutting a padlock and entering a utility trailer at the business. The person stole a large of tools and loaded them in the pickup, the release said.
On Wednesday, deputies investigated a report of suspicious activity. The Sequim business owner had located the pickup and spotted some of his tools, according to the release. The business owner followed the pickup to the Fairmount gas station and waited for deputies to arrive.
While deputies were talking with the pickup truck driver, the business owner pointed out some of his tools in the back of the truck, the release said.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies located not only the stolen tools from Monday in the back of the truck but also a large amount of suspected controlled substances, so an amended search warrant was obtained, according to the press release.
Deputies seized not only the stolen property from Monday but also drug paraphernalia (syringes, baggies, scale, foil), an estimated 332 grams (11.7 ounces) of suspected methamphetamine and an estimated 8.88 grams (three-tenths of an ounce) of suspected fentanyl.
