PORT ANGELES — A woman wanted since mid-November for investigation of possession of drugs and burglary tools was charged Thursday in Clallam County Superior Court with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
Odessia L. Cargo’s arraignment was set for today.
The 28-year-old woman was arrested last Saturday, Dec. 30, at a Port Angeles residence, according to a press release from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Cargo is being held in the Clallam County jail in lieu of either $10,000 bond or $25,000 bail. Although she was charged only with the drug crime on Thursday, she was booked also for investigation of possession of burglary tools, second-degree criminal trespass and three outstanding Lower Elwha Tribal Court warrants.
According to an earlier sheriff’s office release, on Nov. 12, a deputy investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle with license plates that didn’t match in the parking lot of the Port Angeles East Safeway at 2709 E. Highway 101. The employee said the vehicle was occupied by two women and one man.
A woman standing inside the vehicle’s open passenger door, who was later identified as Cargo, told the deputy the car belonged to one of the other men, took a $100 bill off the passenger seat, began walking away and then ran, according to the probable cause filed Tuesday in Clallam County Superior Court.
The two men had fled on foot as the deputy approached but were arrested later that evening on unrelated charges.
The deputy saw material inside the car that prompted obtaining a search warrant, the release stated. According to the probable cause statement, the deputy found 32.27 grams of packaged suspected methamphetamine and a digital scale; multiple bags with white powdery and white crystalline substances; hypodermic needles, plastic smoking devices and a rubber tourniquet; a lockpick set, pair of bolt cutters, prying tool and a pneumatic air bag for spreading doors/windows; photo IDs, debit cards and mail used to confirm the suspects’ identities; mail belonging to another woman; and a black book with Cargo’s name written on it.
