PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for striking the father of her child with a pair of metal clamps used in woodworking, the Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced.
Michelle M. Osborn, 32, was sentenced Tuesday in Clallam County District Court.
She was convicted May 10 of fourth-degree assault with domestic violence for striking and injuring the man in a March 6 incident, Clallam County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Cowgill said.
A six-member jury convicted Osborn of the gross misdemeanor.
The city of Port Angeles case consisted of testimony from the victim and Port Angeles Police Officer Jeffery Ordona, photographs of the man’s injury and a presentation of the weapons used in the assault, Cowgill said.
The defense case included testimony from Osborn and her mother, he said.
Clallam County District Court Judge Rick Porter sentenced Osborn and ordered her to complete an anger management course, Cowgill said.
Osborn is scheduled to report to the Clallam County jail to serve her sentence beginning Thursday.
Porter followed the prosecutor’s recommended sentence, which took into account the wishes of the victim and nature of the assault, Cowgill said.
“This case highlights the serious nature of domestic violence in our community and serves as a good example of the fact that domestic violence is an equal opportunity crime,” Cowgill said in a Wednesday news release.
