PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman accused of raping a teenage boy and having sexual contact with an animal pleaded guilty Tuesday to sex-related charges and animal abuse.
Deanna Marie Wilson, 41, pleaded guilty to first- and second-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, second-degree dealing in depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and first-degree animal cruelty, sexual contact.
Her sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 28 in Clallam County Superior Court.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Michele Devlin said during court Tuesday that originally there was no intention of making any plea offer for Wilson, but that changed as the defense “diligently” negotiated for months.
“This is as far as the state was going to go without a trial,” she said.
As part of the deal, prosecutors dropped five charges, including third-degree rape of a child, three counts of first-degree animal cruelty and furnishing liquor to minors.
‘A good resolution’
“I believe it’s a good resolution,” Devlin said, adding that the deal came about after “a lot of back and forth” over several months.
In deciding to drop charges, she considered the evidence, witnesses that would be required to testify at trial and what could be “proven beyond a reasonable doubt without retraumatizing anybody,” she said.
Wilson still faces the most serious charge against her, which is first-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, a class B felony.
Class B felonies can carry a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment.
The other charges she pleaded guilty to can each carry a maximum of up to five years’ imprisonment.
Prosecutors are recommending Wilson serve 66 months — nearly 5½ years — in prison.
Port Angeles police said Wilson raped a 15-year-old boy after providing alcohol to a group of minors last October and had sexual contact with her pet dog twice last year.
She was alleged to have taken photographs of the alleged crimes with her cellphone.
Wilson allegedly video-recorded herself engaging in sexual contact with the boy, police said.
Investigators also alleged that Wilson sent a naked image of the boy to one of his friends, according to the probable-cause report.
Arrest report
Wilson admitted to drinking alcohol with the boy and other minors at a Port Angeles residence before the alleged rape occurred, Officer Sky Sexton wrote in his arrest report.
“Wilson expressed doubt over [the boy’s] age at the time and said that she asked him to make sure it was legal for them to have sex,” Sexton wrote in the probable-cause report.
“Wilson said that she took [the boy’s] word.”
Defense attorney John Black and Devlin agreed Friday that a pre-sentencing investigation would be needed.
Wilson was arrested last October. She remained in the Clallam County jail on $100,000 bail Tuesday.
