Port Angeles woman arrested after alleged assault with firearm

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman was booked into the Clallam County jail for investigation of second-degree assault-domestic violence after police said she confronted a fellow resident with a firearm during an argument.

No one was injured, police said.

Betty Jean Blevins, 44, remained in jail on $25,000 bail Saturday.

A neighbor heard a gunshot in the 2100 block of West 16th Street and called police at about 7:46 p.m. Thursday, according to Sgt. Josh Powless in a news release.

Police said Blevins allegedly left the room during an argument in the residence, retrieved a firearm and returned. When Blevins confronted the other resident with the firearm, others in the room subdued her, during which time Blevins fired off a round into the floor, Powless said in the release.

Police made several unsuccessful attempts to contact Blevins at the scene, Powless said.

When negotiators were called to the residence, Blevins came out and turned herself in before negotiations began, according to the release.

She was taken into custody without incident, police said.
