Port Angeles police seek man who failed to appear in court

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles police request the public’s help in finding a Port Angeles man who did not appear for his sentencing hearing Aug. 1 after allegedly resisting arrest.

On May 13, Glenn E. Self drove past a stop sign without stopping and turned into an alleyway off South Liberty Street without signaling, according to court records.

Officer Tyler Mueller found Self’s Ford Explorer after he pulled into a driveway at 1308 E. First St. When Mueller approached the Explorer, Self argued and continued to “elevate his behavior,” according to a news release.

Mueller determined the safest course of action was to detain Self, according to the release. Self continued to argue and attempted to pull away, the release said, and Mueller used an arm-bar technique to bring Self to the ground.

Then, Officer JJ Smith arrived and assisted Mueller in placing Self into handcuffs, the release said.

Once in custody, Self continued to struggle, only becoming complacent when he was taken to Olympic Medical Center for an unrelated medical issue, according to the release.

Self was charged with resisting arrest in Clallam County District Court on July 26.

He did not appear for his sentencing hearing Aug. 1.
