Port Angeles police seek man who allegedly hit pedestrian

PORT ANGELES — City police on Thursday were looking for a driver who allegedly struck a pedestrian on South Washington Street in Port Angeles.

Michael T. Riley, 31, is wanted for investigation of first-degree assault after allegedly striking a 24-year-old man near the corner of Washington and Ninth streets at about noon Thursday, police said.

“It was a road rage incident,” said Jason Viada, Port Angeles deputy chief of police.

Viada said the man was driving a car and thought Riley was following him, so he stopped. Riley also stopped. The man got out of his car.

“Riley ran into him and drove away,” Viada said.

The victim was treated and released at the scene, Viada said.

Riley is described as being 5-foot-10, 220 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

He is possibly driving a spray-painted black 2005 Dodge Durango SUV with the Washington license BHA6691, Viada said.

Anyone who sees Riley or the Durango is asked to call 9-1-1.
