PORT ANGELES — A man charged with possession of methamphetamine and heroin after a warrant roundup has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to six years and a day in prison.
Matthew Steven Ennen, 29, pleaded guilty Thursday in Clallam County Superior Court to possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, according to court records.
After accepting a plea deal, Ennen was sentenced to five years in prison on those two counts and an additional year for a possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine charge from earlier in the year.
He must spend two years in community custody upon release.
Ennen was arrested May 21 by the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET), which was assisting in Operation Spring Cleaning, a warrant roundup led by the Western District of Washington Violent Offender Task Force.
The roundup focused on people with felony warrants for crimes of violence, drug crimes and sex crimes as well as convicted felons on active probation who were wanted by the state Department of Corrections.
The warrant team included members of OPNET, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, the Western District of Washington Violent Offender Task Force, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, probation officers with the Department of Corrections and the U.S. Border Patrol.
The roundup netted at least 20 people in the Port Angeles area, including Ennen and Marie Joan Haller, 30.
Police located Ennen at Haller’s West Lauridsen Boulevard apartment, which they were able to search due to Ennen’s DOC warrant.
Haller, who posted $50,000 bail, was charged with possession of meth and heroin with intent to deliver after police said they found drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, 474 grams of heroin (over a pound), 83.79 grams of methamphetamine (almost 3 ounces) and $13,325 in cash in her apartment, according to a probable cause statement. The estimated potential street value of the seized drugs was $67,629.
She has a status hearing set for 1 p.m. Sept. 26 on the two charges: possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
Ennen, who was living in Haller’s apartment, was wanted by the Department of Corrections, OPNET said.
When the warrant team knocked at the door of the second-floor apartment, Ennen jumped from the second floor back window, OPNET said, and was taken into custody.
Team members searched Ennen’s backpack and found drug paraphernalia and a little more than $2,600 cash.
In the earlier case, Ennen was charged with a single count of possession of meth with intent to deliver after a deputy found him with drugs during the early morning hours of New Year’s Day at Seven Cedars Casino, according to court papers.
A deputy spotted Ennen and arrested him for a confirmed DOC warrant. While searching Ennen, the deputy found 15.6 grams of methamphetamine and $653 cash.
