PORT ANGELES — A 37-year-old Port Angeles man has been sentenced to more than 5 years in prison for his role in the January burglary of Carlsborg Self Storage.
Trever Gallauher was also given a concurrent 60-month sentence for assaulting his girlfriend in April.
He was sentenced Sept. 21 to 68 months in prison for second-degree burglary. Gallauher and an accomplice entered the self storage facilty by using a gate code and stole about $60,000 worth of tools and car parts, court records say.
Video captured during the Jan. 18 burglary shows Gallauher and another person driving up to an entry gate at about 2 a.m. in a truck with an empty bed.
About 18 minutes later, the truck left through the gate with what appeared to be a large air compressor in the back of the truck, court records say. The other occupant of the truck has not been charged.
They then returned at about 3 a.m. Court records say the truck left through the same gate about 15 minutes later hauling a truck-load of boxes.
Gallauher told deputies he had used his three vehicles to enter the facility and that he was given the code by the other man he was with.
Gallauher had also been to the storage facility in December, court records say.
The code used belonged to someone whose storage unit was nowhere near the one burglarized.
Gallauher also told deputies he was paid with $20 and some methamphetamine to help the man transport the items to the other man’s residence.
When the facility manager noticed a missing lock on a unit, he notified the renter.
Concurrent with the burglary sentence, Gallauher also received 60 months in prison for a felony assault in April on his girlfriend while she held their 14-month-old son, court records say.
Gallauher has previously been convicted of three burglaries, three forgeries, two assaults, eluding police and theft since 1995.
He was originally charged with second-degree assault, but pleaded guilty to third-degree assault.
Judge Chistopher Melly sentenced Gallauher to the maximum of the standard sentencing range for the assault and granted a 5-year restraining order for the girlfriend.
