Port Angeles man sentenced for illegal drugs

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has been sentenced to four years in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team said.

Brandon S. Jones, 30, of Port Angeles pleaded guilty on Thursday to the charges, OPNET said.

His sentence will be followed by 12 months of Department of Corrections supervision.

The conviction was the result of a June 2022 warrant roundup jointly conducted by the OPNET and the state Department of Corrections, OPNET said.

The operation was intended to clear warrants and check on people’s DOC supervision compliance.

Fifteen active DOC warrants were served during the operation and some new investigations were opened, including that of Jones.

He was arrested at a residence in the 1100 block of E. Craig Avenue in Port Angeles, OPNET said.

A DOC search of the residence located suspected methamphetamine, a scale, a bag of suspected fentanyl pills and a variety of ammunition, authorities said.

OPNET obtained a search warrant for the residence and said it found about 0.55 grams of suspected heroin, approximately 6.35 grams of suspected methamphetamine, packaging materials, various items of drug paraphernalia, a wad of cash in small denominations and a .22 caliber rifle.

Jones is a convicted felon due to a 2020 conviction for second-degree assault, OPNET said.
