PORT ANGELES — A 58-year-old Port Angeles man has been arrested after deputies said he harassed and threatened his girlfriend.
Donald Allen Fellas was booked into the Clallam County jail on Friday for investigation of felony harassment, fourth-degree assault domestic violence, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The day before at about 2:29 a.m., deputies were called to the area of Joyce Access Road to investigate a report of a woman who had been told to get out of the truck by her boyfriend and was left standing on the roadway, Sgt. Shaun Minks said in a press release.
Deputies learned that Fellas was the driver of the truck and possibly had a firearm. The woman told dispatchers that Fellas had threatened to shoot her if she called law enforcement.
She also told dispatchers that Fellas was continuously driving up and down Joyce Access Road re-contacting her and attempting to talk her back into his pickup.
When deputies found her, they took her into protective custody, Minks said.
Deputies were told that Fellas had driven the two up Joyce Access Road so they could talk. They argued and the woman began recording their conversation on her phone.
Deputies heard Fellas say on the recording that he would strangle and beat her to death if she called law enforcement. Deputies also were told Fellas had forcefully removed her cellphone from her hand while she was recording their argument.
On Friday, at about 1:56 a.m., Fellas was seen driving his red Ford pickup in Port Angeles. Deputies and Port Angeles police officers stopped him on Marine Drive to take him into custody.
Using a search warrant, deputies seized two firearms out of the pickup and three firearms from his residence, Minks said, adding that Fellas has several felony convictions, making it illegal for him to possess firearms.
While he was being booked, deputies said they found a baggie of suspected methamphetamine in his wallet.
