Port Angeles man jailed after hit-and-run wreck injures two on Highway 101 in Carlsborg

CARLSBORG — A 35-year-old Port Angeles man remained in the Clallam County jail Sunday after a hit-and-run wreck in Carlsborg over the weekend.

Ian M. Montes was held without bond over the weekend for investigation of hit-and-run injury after he fled the wreck on foot Saturday night, according to the State Patrol.

“[He] was later apprehended and booked into Clallam County jail,” according to a State Patrol report.

The two-car wreck was reported at 8:50 p.m. Saturday.

State Patrol said Montes, driving a GMC Sierra pickup, was speeding while driving westbound on U.S. Highway 101 at Carlsborg Road when he collided with a Subaru Legacy from behind, injuring the driver and a passenger and totaling both vehicles.

Port Angeles residents Denver A. Vaughn, 33, and Katrina E. Vaughn, 36, were both transported to Olympic Medical Center for their injuries.

Their conditions were unavailable Sunday.

The wreck was still under investigation Sunday, according to State Patrol.
