Port Angeles man held after police say they found heroin during burglary investigation

Authorities say burglary of New Day Eatery led police to search the home of Bradford R. Boulden, 30.

PORT ANGELES — A 30-year-old Port Angeles man is being held in the Clallam County jail after police said they found heroin at his residence instead of the stolen items they were seeking.

Bradford R. Boulden was booked for investigation of possession of a controlled substance Sunday and is being held on $6,000 bail while city police investigate a burglary at New Day Eatery in Port Angeles.

Boulden’s residence held no evidence he was involved in the burglary, court documents say.

The downtown business was broken into Sunday morning, said Sgt. Jason Viada.

New Day Eatery posted to Facebook it was closed Sunday and Monday after the restaurant’s entire point-of-sale system was stolen.

The burglar took off with five iPads, a “substantial quantity of cash,” a cash register, baked goods, a checkbook and mail, Viada said.

An employee told Officer Jeff Ordoña that Boulden, a former employee, had said how he could burglarize the restaurant.

Ordoña searched Boulden’s residence and found no evidence he was involved in the burglary but did find 5.6 grams of heroin, court documents say.

Viada said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the burglary should call Ordoña at 360-912-0111.
