SEQUIM — A Port Angeles man is facing charges today for an alleged theft, vehicle chase and foot pursuit in Sequim.
Jesse A. Eisenhower, 26, was arrested Tuesday for investigation of eluding a police vehicle, first-degree driving with a suspended license, shoplifting, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
The Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s office will consider filing formal charges at 1 p.m. today.
Sequim police alleged that Eisenhower took clothing from the Sequim J.C. Penney on Tuesday and fled with others in a Toyota truck when officers arrived at about 3:48 p.m.
Truck got stuck in bushes
The truck that Eisenhower was driving traveled several blocks and entered a field, where it became stuck in thick blackberry bushes, police said.
Officer Michael Hill said Eisenhower “ran from the vehicle, through yards and climbed onto the roof of a series of mini storage units as officers pursued him on foot.”
“Eisenhower ran across the length of storage units and climbed down,” Hill wrote in the affidavit for probable cause.
Eisenhower, who had refused commands to stop, tripped and fell on a rocky hillside, police said. He was arrested after the fall.
Wearing stolen pants
A search of Eisenhower revealed that he was wearing two pairs of pants that had been taken from J.C. Penney, Hill said.
He also had possession of two T-shirts from the department store and about 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine, Hill said.
Eisenhower was examined at Olympic Medical Center before he was booked into the Clallam County jail.
He is being held on $50,000 bail and a state Department of Corrections hold.
