PORT ANGELES — A 20-year-old Port Angeles man charged last week with third-degree child rape involving a 14-year-old girl has been accused of raping a different 14-year-old girl in 2019.
Justin Michael Thayer of Port Angeles was charged Tuesday with second-degree rape with forcible compulsion and three counts of third-degree rape of a child.
He was charged July 29 with third-degree child rape.
The new charges grew out of four alleged sexual assaults that allegedly occurred between Jan. 27- May 8, 2019, according to criminal information filed Monday in Clallam County Superior Court.
Thayer will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Aug. 14 on the new charges, and at 9 a.m. Friday on the earlier child rape charge.
Thayer remained late Monday in the Clallam County jail on $100,000 bail that was set Friday after the prosecuting attorney’s office filed a probable cause statement and Thayer was placed on a 72-hour hold.
The newest charges are based on interviews with the alleged victim who was 14 in May 2019.
Child Protective Services reported to Port Angeles police that CPS had received a referral that the girl was having a sexual relationship with an older man later identified as Thayer.
Thayer was 18 when the relationship began and 19 when it ended, according to the probable cause statement.
The girl told Officer Jeffery Ordona that the two had sex twice, disclosing an incident in which she told Thayer to stop and he did not stop “for a good few minutes,” according to the statement.
Thayer told Ordona that he had a sexual relationship with the girl after he attended another 14-year-old girl’s birthday party.
Thayer said he had consensual sex with the other 14-year-old girl, who said the rape occurred between April 15-May 15.
She said Thayer, whom she knows, assaulted her despite her telling him to stop, according to the probable cause statement.
