Police accuse Sequim man of molestation

PORT ANGELES — A 37-year-old Sequim man was arrested after police alleged he had sexual contact with a 4-year-old girl, the Clallam County Sheriff’s office said.

Brian Russell Dilley is accused of molesting the girl at his residence sometime between July 2016 and May 2017, Sheriff’s Detective Amy Bundy wrote in court papers.

Dilley was arrested Friday. He is being held in the Clallam County jail on $50,000 bail.

The Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will consider filing a formal charge against Dilley at his next court appearance at 3 p.m. today.

The girl disclosed the alleged crime to Renton police Aug. 23.

The alleged sexual abuse was originally reported by the girl’s mother in June 2017.

The child would not disclose the allegations in a subsequent interview with a child forensic interviewer.

The girl was re-interviewed in Renton last month after she had made further disclosures about the alleged abuse to her parents and a counselor, Bundy said.

Bundy was granted a warrant Aug. 30 to search Dilley’s Cedar Street apartment for a virtual reality gaming head set that he had allowed the alleged victim and her older sister to play with when the alleged crime occurred, Bundy said.

A deputy found the headset in the living room and took photographs of a red couch the girl had described to law enforcement, Bundy said.

$50,000 bail granted

Clallam County Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly granted Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Sarah Woolman’s request for a $50,000 bail for Dilley at Dilley’s first court appearance Tuesday.

Dilley is being represented by Port Angeles attorney John Black.
