PORT ANGELES — The arrest of a Port Angeles man wanted on a state Department of Corrections warrant led to the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team arresting another man and seizing three guns, a possible explosive device, six pounds of marijuana and more than $62,000.
Mario W. Hackney, 51, was wanted by the Department of Corrections for escaping community custody, and law enforcement learned he might be found at the residence of Philip A. Graham, 58, according to a press release.
On Friday OPNET, Port Angeles Police and DOC officers went to Graham’s home on the 900 block of East Eighth Street, where they found Hackney in Graham’s shop. Hackney was taken into custody without incident and officers say they found a baggie of methamphetamine in his possession.
OPNET was already investigating Graham and gained probable cause to search his shop, where they say they found two handguns, a Mini 14 rifle, a shotgun, glassware with meth residue, scales with meth residue, packaging material, drug paraphernalia, a possible improvised explosive device, about six pounds of marijuana and $28,266.
State Patrol bomb technicians are looking at the possible improvised explosive device.
Graham is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms. Detectives attempted to contact him at his residence, but he would not come to the door.
OPNET obtained another search warrant for Graham and he finally surrendered as an entry team prepared to break down his door.
OPNET then obtained one last search warrant and detectives say they found more baggies of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and $34,287 in an ammo can under a bed.
Graham was booked into the Clallam County jail Friday for investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of explosive devices.
Both Graham and Hackney remained jailed Sunday.
