UPDATE1: Negotiators talking with man in standoff near Brinnon

BRINNON — State Patrol officers and two SWAT units are negotiating with a man in a travel trailer threatening to hurt himself after he allegedly threatened others, authorities said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report at about 8:38 a.m. of a man in a trailer threatening others with a gun on Robinson Road near U.S. Highway 101.

Three persons passing the vehicle in a car called 9-1-1 after the man allegedly brandished a weapon at them.

Five deputies were dispatched, said Arthur Frank, chief criminal deputy.

Deputies reported that they arrived at the scene at 9:13 a.m.

The man — who has not been identified — threatened to harm himself, Frank said, and so the State Patrol SWAT officers were called in to negotiate.

A second SWAT team from Tacoma arrived at the scene after 2 p.m. and took up positions outside.

Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue is standing by at the scene and there are two ambulances.

Robinson Road is closed to traffic.
