Multiple trial dates set for accused poacher

PORT ANGELES — Trial dates have been set for an alleged big game poacher who faces 26 illegal hunting charges in Clallam and Jefferson counties.

Jason Bradley Hutt, 29, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Clallam County Superior Court to two counts of first-degree unlawful hunting of big game, three counts of second-degree hunting of wild animals or wild birds, two counts of unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and single counts of unlawful carrying of a firearm and bail jumping.

A one-week trial was scheduled Thursday for March 23 in Clallam County Superior Court.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife alleged that Hutt and an accomplice killed several bears, deer and elk in Clallam and Jefferson counties in the summer of 2018.

Hutt was previously charged in Clallam County with 12 counts of first-degree unlawful hunting of big game, two counts of first-degree unlawful transportation of wildlife and single counts of waste of wildlife and unlawful hunting on the property of another.

A one-week trial in that case was scheduled for March 9.

Hutt also is charged with possession of methamphetamine in another Clallam County case.

A two-day trial is scheduled for Feb. 5.

Hutt is charged in a fourth Clallam County case with first-degree theft and possession of a stolen excavator.
