PORT ANGELES — One of two men suspected of robbing Frugals at gunpoint, threatening staff and stealing $4,950 last December has made his first appearance in Clallam County Superior Court.
Anthony Lewis Reynolds, 36, was arrested by the Port Angeles Police Department on Saturday and booked into Clallam County Jail, where he remained Tuesday on $200,000 bail.
An arrest warrant also was issued for the second suspect, Burton C.B. “Bill” Brown, 59, who remains at large. He is described as about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Police ask that anyone who has information on Brown’s whereabouts to call 360-452-4545.
Reynolds has been charged with five Class A felonies: two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of first-degree burglary; a Class B felony of motor vehicle theft, and second-degree theft, a Class C felony.
Judge Elizabeth Stanley set Reynolds’ arraignment for Friday and issued no-contract orders with two Frugals employees.
According to the police report, a little after 11 p.m. on Dec. 5, employees at Frugals, 1520 E. Front St., called dispatch to report a robbery. They said two male suspects wearing black coats and masks over their faces had pointed weapons at them and threatened to kill them if they didn’t hand over money.
The suspects ordered one employee to open a safe, which held cash in bags and boxes, and then forced that employee and a second employee into a bathroom. The suspects threatened to kill an employee if he didn’t hand over the keys to his vehicle, which they stole and used to flee the scene.
