Man charged in alleged stabbing near Forks

FORKS — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged stabbing that occurred at a West End residence.

Manning Allen Roberts, 42, was charged Monday with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of first-degree burglary, court papers said.

Roberts allegedly broke into a Forks-area residence early Saturday and stabbed two 21-year-old men.

The injured men were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Forks Community Hospital and released, Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Anderson said in a Monday interview.

The alleged victims told investigators they had been drinking beer around a campfire at Roberts’ residence off Shuwah Road north of Forks on Friday evening.

“The two young men left the residence and went to a residence in the Forks area because they felt Roberts was being rude,” Anderson said in a news release.

“During the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, Roberts unlawfully entered the residence where the two men were staying. Roberts allegedly stabbed one of the men in the chest with a knife, and the other man was cut during an altercation with Roberts.”

The assault was under investigation Monday, Anderson said.

Roberts was released from the Clallam County jail on his own recognizance Monday. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Clallam County Superior Court on June 12.
