PORT TOWNSEND — A man was arrested early Friday for investigation of attempted murder after he allegedly shot at his mother.
No life-threatening injuries occurred, Port Townsend Police Sgt. Troy Surber said.
Casey Scott Carter was booked into the Jefferson County Jail just before 5 a.m. following the incident in the vicinity of Eddy Street and Discovery Road, Surber said.
Police said Carter’s mother picked him up near apartments just outside of city limits in unincorporated Jefferson County and drove into town to go to Safeway.
“He had a weapon, and it was seen by both [parties],” Surber said.
A short time later, the woman was dropping Carter off near Eddy Street at about 2:30 a.m., when he allegedly fired toward the car when his mother was inside, Surber said.
It was not clear how many shots were fired or if any of them struck the woman.
Investigation continued Friday.
