Man aids deputies in arrest

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office recovered two stolen vehicles after a private citizen blocked the vehicles in the driveway.

Clallam County sheriff’s deputies arrested Kenny Brown of Port Angeles, 21, following the incident Tuesday morning.

He was booked into the Clallam County jail for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle, first-degree burglary and theft of a firearm.

At about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a private citizen reported seeing his friend’s stolen 1980 Jeep being towed by a 1985 Honda Civic near the 100 block of Crescent Beach Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The citizen, who was driving a utility truck, followed the vehicles until they were driven into a private residence and then he blocked the driveway, preventing them from leaving.

The driver, later identified as Brown, asked the citizen to help him remove the tow bar but he refused, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Brown then fled into the woods with another man before law enforcement arrived, deputies said.

Later in the evening deputies were called out to the Joyce area because of a reported sighting of Brown. He was then located and arrested without incident.

Deputies said that while he was being interviewed, Brown admitted that he knew the Jeep was stolen and admitted to committing a burglary east of Port Angeles in October.

The .22 caliber rifle stolen during the burglary has since been recovered.
