PORT ANGELES — A Sequim man accused of a rampage in Sequim on Saturday will be arraigned Feb. 17 on five charges after appearing in Clallam County Superior Court on Wednesday.
Darryl John Svec, 34, of Sequim remained in the Clallam County jail on Thursday in lieu of $5,000 bail or bond. He is being represented by a public defender.
The five charges are expected to be second-degree robbery, third-degree assault (police officer), theft of a motor vehicle, eluding a police vehicle and DUI-alcohol.
Prosecutors dropped six of the eleven possible charges that Svec was booked on following his arrest: first-degree malicious mischief, second-degree malicious mishchief, two counts of hit-and-run unattended, interfering with reporting of domestic violence and resisting arrest.
During Svec’s first appearance on Monday, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Roberson recommended $50,000 bail, a no-contact order with the woman from whom he allegedly stole a car and that Svec wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet.
Clallam County Superior Court Judge Simon Barnhart said “the litany of allegations is remarkable” but that they could be part of an “alcohol-induced set of circumstances.”
It was not clear whether an alcohol-detecting ankle bracelet would be required or if that would be reviewed at the Feb. 17 arraignment.
