Joyce woman arrested after chase in Neah Bay

NEAH BAY — A Joyce woman was arrested after a high-speed chase in Neah Bay on Saturday, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.

Tami M. Holsen, 44, was booked into the Clallam County jail for investigation of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and second-degree criminal trespass after traveling at speeds of 80 mph on Neah Bay side streets and state Highway 112, authorities said.

She is being held on $2,500 bail.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Anderson said Holsen had an exclusion order preventing her from being on the Makah reservation.

A Neah Bay police officer tried to stop Holsen, a non-tribal member, at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Anderson said.

“When he had attempted to stop her, she had fled at a high rate of speed and, at one point, backed into his patrol car before continuing,” Anderson wrote in the affidavit for probable cause.

Two tribal officers pursued Holsen until she crashed into a guardrail, telephone pole and ditch just east of the Neah Bay Cemetery, according to Anderson’s arrest report.

Holsen tried to flee on foot but was tackled by one of the officers, Anderson said.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Anderson said Holsen put a small dent in the patrol car when she rammed into it on Pine Street.

Sgt. Anderson said he did not know what led to the exclusion order.
