Hearing delayed for Port Angeles woman charged with rape, animal abuse

PORT ANGELES — A court hearing for a 41-year-old Port Angeles woman charged with child rape and animal abuse was delayed Friday because of a pending mental health report.

Deanna Marie Wilson, who police say raped a 15-year-old boy and had sexual contact with her pet dog last October, signed a waiver of speedy trial through May 31, court papers said.

Her court hearing was moved to March 3 because her attorney had not yet received the results of a pair of mental health evaluations performed by Seattle psychiatrist Dr. Kenneth Muscatel.

In a Feb. 2 letter to Wilson’s attorney, Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly requested a financial statement from Wilson to “expedite the court’s decision regarding public funding of Dr. Muscatel’s services.”

Wilson was originally scheduled to go to trial last Dec. 12.

Port Angeles police alleged that she raped the boy after providing alcohol to a group of minors Oct. 6 and had sexual contact with the dog last May 4 and Oct. 1.

Alleged pictures

Police found images of the alleged crimes on Wilson’s cellphone, according to the arrest report.

Wilson is charged with third-degree child rape, four counts of first-degree animal cruelty, possession of and dealing in depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and furnishing liquor to minors.

Wilson has maintained her innocence. She is being held in the Clallam County jail on $100,000 bail.
