EVERETT — A collection of gold and silver worth an estimated $115,000 that was stolen from a Kala Point home in February was found by Marysville police during a recent search of a house in Everett.
The collection of coins and gold bars was stolen sometime between Feb. 15-18, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Undersheriff Joe Nole.
The collection was recovered Feb. 28 after officers from the Marysville and Everett police departments obtained a search warrant for an Everett residence on Emerson Place.
No arrests have been made.
Marysville and Everett police found $110,000 of gold and silver bars and coins — some worth as much as $1,300 each, according to a news release from Marysville Police Chief Richard Smith.
A second warrant, obtained March 1, also recovered $5,000 in gold and silver in a vehicle that was parked at the residence, Marysville police said.
The department said it also found multiple ounces of heroin and methamphetamine at the residence when it was searched Feb. 28.
Originally, Marysville police say they were working on a drug investigation when they received a tip that the collection of gold and silver had shown up in Everett.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a collection of precious metals had been reported stolen in February, according to Smith, and the information was deemed credible by the Snohomish County judge who handed down the search warrants.
According to Jeffrey Goldman, operations commander for the Marysville Police Department, police have not released the name of the collector who owns the coins, but the collection is being held in Marysville until it is recovered by the owner.
The case remains under investigation by Marysville police with help from the Everett Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Marysville police said.
