PORT ANGELES — A former Clallam Bay corrections officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to child molestation and child pornography charges.
A 12½-year prison sentence was recommended for Alexis R. Bustillos Osuna, 32, by Clallam County Criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Roberson and Osuna’s lawyer, John Hayden of Clallam Public Defender.
Osuna will be sentenced at a 9 a.m. hearing April 19 in Superior Court on charges reached in the plea deal.
He admitted guilt to committing first-degree child molestation, four counts of first-degree possession of child pornography and one count of second-degree dealing in child pornography for duplicating pornographic images to his hard drive.
The Port Angeles resident had been charged with first-degree child rape, eight counts of possession and six counts of dealing and one count of voyeurism.
Osuna, hired last March 23 by Clallam Bay Corrections Center, was terminated Nov. 25, a corrections center spokesperson said Tuesday.
Osuna was in jail Nov. 11 when the pornography and voyeurism charges were filed against him. He was in jail for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl between Nov. 2 and Nov. 6.
In a written statement for his guilty plea Tuesday, Osuna said he had sexual contact with a girl less than 12 years old between Nov. 2 and Nov. 6, that on Nov. 9 he had depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and that he dealt in pornography by duplicating the images.
Basden told Osuna on Tuesday that the standard sentence range on the second-degree child rape charge, based on the nature of the crime and his criminal history, was up to 16½ years.
Osuna does not have a criminal record.
The maximum sentence for all six charges is 33 years under the standard sentencing range.
Basden can sentence Osuna to up to the maximum sentence within the standard range.
The girl said Osuna assaulted her while the two were lying in bed and she was asleep, according to a probable cause statement.
The girl told a family member Osuna had touched her sexually.
In a recorded phone conversation between the girl and Osuna, he admitted he assaulted her and told her to keep it “a secret,” according to court documents.
Osuna had been jailed for assaulting the girl when a hard drive fell out of a coat that a family member was removing from a closet, according to a probable cause statement.
Among videos and hundreds of photos of children and infants being assaulted were 47 images of the girl, according to the statement.
Basden ordered a pre-sentence investigation in preparation for sentencing Osuna.
The sexual assault case was the second resolved in Superior Court against a former Clallam Bay Corrections Center officer in six weeks.
John Gray, 52, a former Forks jail and state prison officer, was sentenced to 20 months in prison on Feb. 1 after he pleaded guilty to four counts of custodial sexual misconduct for assaulting four Forks jail inmates.
