Forks man accused of robbery, eluding

FORKS — A 32-year-old Forks resident was booked into the Clallam County jail for investigation of first-degree robbery and other charges after he allegedly attempted to elude law enforcement officers.

Taken into custody Friday was John Planck Robinson. He remained in jail Saturday.

First-degree robbery is a Class A felony with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that it will not release any further information on this charge at this time as the case remains under investigation.

First-degree robbery is either an armed robbery of a financial institution or a robbery involving bodily harm or a deadly weapon.

According to a sheriff’s office report, deputies observed Robinson Friday driving a vehicle west on U.S. Highway 101 near Forks.

Deputies were aware that Robinson had an active Department of Corrections warrant out on him on the robbery first degree charge with a caution that he was considered an armed and violent offender, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies attempted to pull Robinson over. According to the report, he slowed down, then drove away. Deputies pursued him briefly before Robinson stopped his vehicle and was taken into custody.

He was booked into custody with an additional count of eluding a police vehicle.
