PORT ANGELES — Charges were filed Monday against a 20-year-old Port Angeles man who told authorities he bought and sold a gun with a price tag on it from FREDS Guns near Sequim, where about 30 firearms were stolen April 13.
Isaiah A. Hylton, 20, who authorities said is not a suspect in the break-in, was charged in Clallam County Superior Court with first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance, heroin.
His arraignment was set for May 17.
“Wow,” Hylton exclaimed after the date was set.
Hylton, arrested April 30, remained Monday afternoon in the Clallam County jail on $50,000 bail.
But information that Hylton provided has not led to any arrests related to the FREDS Guns burglary, Brian King, Clallam Sheriff’s Office chief criminal deputy, said Monday.
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is, “still looking into what he had to say,” King added.
Hylton was arrested following two anonymous tips related to the break-in.
One said Hylton had several guns he was trying to sell from a Port Angeles hotel room, while the other said Hylton was conducting what seemed to be a drug deal from the back of a vehicle in a hotel parking lot.
Hylton was arrested by a State Patrol trooper for driving with a suspended license after authorities staked out a Port Angeles hotel where he was allegedly selling drugs and guns.
