Deputies investigate Sekiu burglary

Some $84,000 worth of items taken

SEKIU — A Sekiu property was cleaned out of just about everything on it during the theft of items worth a total of about $84,000, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

“We have received quite a few tips that have been very helpful,” said Brian King, chief criminal deputy, on Thursday.

“We are actively following up.”

Deputies began investigating the burglary after a report at 8 a.m. Tuesday that a variety of items had been taken from a residence in the 14,000 block of state Highway 112, the sheriff’s office said.

The property owner lives out of the area, and stays in a travel trailer on the land, which also has a garage-type shop building on it, when he is in town, King said.

Speaking to the owner, deputies determined that a maroon burgundy 1999 Ford F-250 pickup with Washington license C99501N had been stolen from the property along with a 30-foot Forest River Wildcat travel trailer, white and beige in color, with Washington plate 75635AC.

Also stolen from the property was a flatbed trailer with Washington license 34518AC along with an orange Kubota LA340 tractor with auger.

The list of stolen items included an HP laptop, a Stihl chain saw with a 16- inch bar, a 2000 watt Honda generator and a black Ruger LCR .38 caliber revolver with a 3-inch barrel.

Along with other miscellaneous items, the total value of items taken is about $84,000, deputies said.Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s dispatchers at 360-417-2459.
